Overview

Elective orthopedics at NUH is an kind and friendly place to work and will be able to offer you training opportunities (both clinical and leadership courses that may be internal and/or external to NUH), the experience of working with highly motivated senior staff who will expose you to the world of research and the potential to work with clinical academics to enhance evidence based care.


The Physiotherapy service is part of the Therapies and Rehabilitation Services pathway, which is one of the pathways that together make up the Clinical Support Division at NUH. We are a diverse pathway of AHPs and support staff, employing over 600 staff who work together to deliver the high quality care we aspire to. Our HCPC registered AHP professionals comprise physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, orthotists, prosthetists and speech and language therapists. We have a Chief AHP to lead us on our strategic direction, and many of the pathway leadership team have pathway AHP backgrounds to support our staff. There are also Practice Development Therapists to support career development for all.


Responsibilities

  • Staff will be responsible for a diverse elective orthopaedics and complex clinical caseload.
  • You will have access to consultants and you will be expected to work collaboratively across the MDT with a wide range of health care professionals.
  • Take additional responsibilities for specific projects and the supervision of Band 5 staff, Physiotherapy Assistants and Students where required.

WorkingPatterns and Responsibilities

As an Acute Trust, you will be required to work regular weekends (currently, for full time staff this is around 1 in 4 weekends one day only) in orthopedic areas. Respiratory on-call duties will not routinely be expected, unless the successful applicant has the ability to carry these out. We operate an early evening late shift to support day zero mobilisations and discharge after normal working hours.


Qualifications and Professional Development

  • HCPC registered AHP professional with expertise in physiotherapy.
  • Ability to work across the MDT and contribute to evidence-based care and research opportunities.

Job Summary

To provide a quality physiotherapy service to NUH patients in a wide variety of settings which may include the community. To develop knowledge and skills in the management of in and outpatients in musculoskeletal areas at NUH. To take additional responsibilities for specific projects and the supervision of Band 5 staff, Physiotherapy Assistants and Students where required.
