Were looking for a hands-on

design engineer

to join a well-established UK manufacturer that specialises in high-quality, safety-critical mechanical systems used across education, research, and industrial environments.

Youll play a key role in shaping the companys product development program - designing new components, improving existing products and ensuring designs are optimised for manufacturability and long-term reliability.

What youll be doing

Producing accurate 3D models and 2D technical drawings for standard and bespoke components.
Driving design change requests and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Creating and maintaining technical documentation, including parts lists, manuals and approval drawings.
Working closely with production, quality, and operations teams to ensure a smooth transition from concept to manufacture.
Identifying opportunities to enhance product performance, reduce warranty issues and implement innovative design solutions.

What youll bring

Proven experience as a design engineer within a manufacturing or fabrication environment (sheet metal or plastics preferred).
Strong 3D CAD skills using Autodesk Inventor or similar (SolidWorks, Siemens NX, etc.).
Good understanding of DFM, root cause analysis, and product validation processes.
HND or degree in mechanical or product design engineering (or similar).
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Nice to have

Experience working within an ISO9001-certified environment.
Knowledge of Autodesk Vault or Revit .
Familiarity with LEV systems or lab-based mechanical products .
