Overview

The post-holder will have clinical responsibility for assessment and treatment planning for clients referred to Maximising Independence. They will be expected to contribute to the development and monitoring of the service. Post holder may be asked to supervise rehab support workers and would be expected to supervise physiotherapy students on practice education placements.


The Maximising Independence team aims to provide a high quality, responsive rehabilitation service helping adults to regain their independence following illness or injury, to support them with their Long Term conditions and to promote health and wellbeing.


The team comprises Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Rehabilitation Support workers and Admin Assistants.


The team is based across several localities within Wandsworth, including Battersea Studios, Roehampton and Tooting. The successful candidate will form part of the Integrated Neighbour Team working alongside community nurses and will be based within one of the locality teams.



  • To carry out physiotherapy intervention in a variety of home and community settings, as appropriate.
  • To work in close collaboration with referring health and social care professionals and voluntary agencies.
  • To carry out holistic assessments for a variety of conditions in clients' homes, residential care establishments or other locations.
  • Deliver high quality physiotherapy intervention to provide rehabilitation, enablement, facilitation of self management for a range of clients.
