We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, innovative Physiotherapist who is interested in working in the field of trauma and orthopaedic therapy. You will need good clinical skills and experience in Trauma and Orthopaedics, a flexible approach, including excellent teamwork, organisational and time management skills.

You will work alongside physiotherapists and occupational therapists, as well other members of the multi-professional team, within in-patients and the ambulatory trauma unit in one of the largest #NOF centres in Britain. Providing therapy to patients in accordance with CSP hip fracture standards.

The #NOF pathway operates across Birmingham Heartlands and Solihull hospital. To gain experience of the entire pathway the successful candidates would rotate between the two sites.

You will join our large dynamic team of therapists who provide T&O therapy across this teaching Trust. We are committed to continued professional and career development of all staff.

The post holder could already be a Band 6 wishing for a change or are you currently an experienced Band 5 who would like to practice Trauma and Orthopaedics at a more senior level.

Applicants must be prepared to participate in the 7-day working and evening ambulatory care unit rota within the T&O therapy teams and the departmental respiratory physiotherapy evening and overnight on-call system.


Main duties of the job

Applicants must have BSc Physiotherapy, HCPC registration with post graduate experience and evidence of completing core rotations and working within T&O.

Evidence of appropriate CPD activity is essential.

Person SpecificationQualifications
  • Good standard of general education including GCSE maths and English grade C and above.
  • Diploma / degree in physiotherapy
  • Registered with Health Professions Council
  • Evidence of leadership training
  • Post graduate training relevant to clinical speciality
  • Fieldwork Educator's certificate or attendance at Clinical Educators Course
Experience
  • Demonstrates clinical experience enabling the post holder to manage a caseload of patients with complex needs in this speciality (specialist surgery/vascular).
  • Experience of working on a physiotherapy on-call service
  • A specialist knowledge across a range of physiotherapy practices, routine and non-routine, requiring expertise within the field of physiotherapy
  • Supervision of students, therapy support workers, Band 5
  • Experience in staff management
  • Contribution/leading service improvement projects
Additional Criteria
  • Highly developed physical skills including dexterity, co-ordination & sensory skills for assessment and manual treatment of patients
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including an ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive and contentious information
  • An ability to prioritise and organise own workload
  • An ability to cope with a range of complex options, find solutions, analyse, compare and decide on appropriate course of action
  • An ability to work as part of an inter-disciplinary team
  • IT skills -- computer literate in email, Word & Powerpoint
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for the specialist area
  • Demonstrate a professional attitude.
  • An ability to prioritise and organise own workload
  • Ability to build effective working relationships within team and wider MDT
  • An ability to cope with moving/manoeuvring patients/equipment on a daily basis
  • An ability to frequently concentrate on patient assessments and treatments
  • An ability to cope with occasional exposure to distressing/emotional situations
  • Able to contribute to weekend service
