WHO are ME Engineers?

At ME Engineers, we’re more than a building services consultancy. We’re problem solvers, innovators, and collaborators.

Our purpose statement is:

To empower talented people to create great things.

Our core values are:

  • Embrace the challenge
  • We are in this together
  • We are creative problem solvers
  • Be bold and passionate
  • Build trust and respect through long‑term relationships

ME Engineers is an international MEP and technology systems consulting engineering firm who provide engineering solutions for large scale, complicated and fast paced projects worldwide. Our clientele includes architects, developers, universities, and others who demand excellence from their consultants. Our Manchester office is part of a global network of 17 offices, giving you the opportunity to work locally while being connected to international projects.

At ME we highly value building and sustaining client relationships through successful partnering with architects and owners. Our long‑term repeat business with some of the world’s most prestigious design firms is a testament to the success of our philosophy. We encourage and foster out‑of‑the‑box, high‑level thinking and employ cutting‑edge strategies including state‑of‑the‑art sustainable design techniques.

Our Manchester office is new – but we’re already making waves.

The pace has been fast, the standards high, and the projects demanding. We’ve felt the pressure, adapted quickly, and come out stronger, with a solid core team of ten who’ve built something special: a foundation of trust, collaboration, and shared ambition.

Now, we’re looking for a Mechanical Associate to join this core group. We need someone who wants to help shape our next chapter, lead from the front, and grow alongside a team that genuinely cares about the work and each other.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading mechanical design on a range of high‑profile and technically challenging projects.
  • Guiding and mentoring engineers, helping them grow and achieve their best.
  • Collaborating across disciplines to deliver creative, coordinated solutions.
  • Building lasting relationships with clients based on integrity and technical excellence.
  • Contributing to the culture and direction of a growing, people‑focused office.

Who You Are

You’re an experienced mechanical engineer who enjoys the mix of leadership, design, and collaboration. You take pride in what you deliver, but you also value the people and relationships that make great projects possible.

You probably bring:

  • Chartered (or near‑chartered) status.
  • Experience leading projects through all stages of design.
  • Happy to continue to take a hands‑on approach to projects and elements of design.
  • A proactive, team‑oriented mindset.
  • The confidence to guide, the humility to listen, and the drive to make things better.

Our Culture

We’re deliberate about how we work.

We’ve taken a less relaxed approach to remote work, not because we don’t trust people, but because flexibility is something earned through mutual respect and accountability. We value being together, learning from each other, and growing as a team.

THE BENEFITS

  • Competitive salary (to be based on qualifications, skills and experience)
  • Pension
  • Private Health insurance
  • Life insurance
  • Educational and professional development opportunities

Additional information/requirements

Short stay ad‑hoc UK and international travel may be required (typically Europe and Middle East).

Why ME?

ME is an employee‑owned corporation. Our values and business focus are centred around not only our clients, but also providing growth opportunities and a fantastic work environment for our employees. This opening provides an opportunity to not only grow your own personal career, but also be a part of our exciting and growing family.

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees regardless of race, colour, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or age.

Due to the high amount of interest that we receive, we are unable to respond to each application individually. Therefore, if you do not hear back from us then unfortunately you have not been shortlisted for this role.

Edge Computing Recruitment Trends 2025 (UK): What Job Seekers Need To Know About Today’s Hiring Process

Summary: UK edge computing hiring has moved from tool‑lists to capability‑driven assessments that emphasise resilient edge architectures, real‑time data pipelines, secure device fleets, container/Kubernetes at the edge, on‑device/near‑edge ML, and measurable business impact (latency, reliability, cost‑to‑serve). This guide explains what’s changed, what to expect in interviews & how to prepare—especially for edge platform engineers, IoT/OT engineers, edge SREs, embedded/firmware engineers, edge AI/ML engineers, network engineers (5G/private LTE), security specialists & product managers. Who this is for: Edge platform/SRE, IoT solution architects, embedded/firmware developers, edge AI/ML engineers, network engineers (5G/SD‑WAN), security engineers (OT/ICS), data/streaming engineers, site deployment/field engineers & edge product managers targeting roles in the UK.

Why Edge Computing Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

For years, computing innovation was focused on the cloud. But as demand for real-time analytics, low-latency processing and secure local data handling grows, edge computing has become the next frontier. From autonomous vehicles to healthcare monitoring devices, retail checkout systems to industrial IoT, edge computing is transforming how data is processed and used in the UK. This shift has also changed what it means to work in the field. Edge computing careers are no longer purely technical. They now require knowledge of law, ethics, psychology, linguistics & design, as professionals must consider regulation, human behaviour, communication & usability alongside engineering. In this article, we’ll explore why UK edge computing careers are becoming more multidisciplinary, how these five fields intersect with edge roles, and what job-seekers & employers need to know to thrive in this evolving landscape.

Edge Computing Team Structures Explained: Who Does What in a Modern Edge Computing Department

Edge computing is expanding rapidly in the UK, driven by demands for low latency, on-site processing, IoT proliferation, autonomous systems, 5G, AI inference on devices, and regulatory pressures for data sovereignty. Businesses in sectors such as telecoms, industrial automation, retail, smart cities, autonomous vehicles, and healthcare are pushing computation and intelligence closer to where data is generated. But to design, build, deploy, secure, and maintain edge computing systems requires more than just hardware or software — it requires structured teams with clearly defined roles and responsibilities. If you’re hiring, or applying for roles via EdgeComputingJobs.co.uk, understanding who does what in a mature edge computing department will help you plan better, show relevance in job applications, and build resilient teams. This article covers the key roles in edge computing teams, how they collaborate through the project lifecycle, what skills and qualifications UK employers usually expect, salary benchmarks, challenges and trends, and best practices for structuring effective edge teams.
