Join the Epta UK R&D department as a 3D Mechanical CAD Engineer and play a key role in supporting R&D as a team. This permanent role is located at our Bradford site and offers hybrid working (3 days office/2 home once probation complete) working 37.5 hours between 07:00 and 19:00.

Your Contribution

You will play a key role in optimising Group products to match the agreed Customer specification, group cost targets, and timescales. Bring innovative, cost-effective solutions, and develop these into working designs. This will involve prototype work, modifications, and improvement requests from Production, and feedback after the final installation on site. You will also assist in managing the generation of local master data by a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

This role requires a significant degree of technical knowledge and skill. You will be responsible for your own work using your initiative in a solution-focused environment. You will need to demonstrate proficiency within a number of design and functional models:

  • Design using 3D with Solid Edge (preferred) & CAD system data manager (Profile).
  • Proficient with design in sheet steel, and other materials.
  • Knowledge of MRP Systems (preferred SAP) & BOM generation.
  • Understand the cost implications of design.
  • Understand the manufacturing and production technologies in use in this industry.

The R&D team relies upon a collaborative and supportive approach, and it is your responsibility to contribute to this, presenting your ideas, seeking improved product design and delivery, and communicating in a way that supports teamwork.

  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team, both locally, and as part of a larger group project, often working with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage a short-term project from inception to successful completion.

Other specific responsibilities include:

  • Ability to use MS Office to provide well-presented reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels internally and with customers.
  • Ability to conform to group working practices & procedures.
  • Understand the operation and function of chilled and frozen display cabinets

Essential knowledge and skills
  • HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Ability to work independently and use own initiative.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own workload.
  • A high level of commitment to diligence and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Refrigeration or electrical experience would be advantageous.
