Day‑to‑day, you’ll be at the heart of projects that keep the Royal Navy operational and ready for the future. You’ll lead on the design, configuration, and life‑extension of mechanical handling systems – cranes, lifting equipment, and critical assets – ensuring they meet the highest safety and performance standards.

• Deliver design and configuration solutions for mechanical handling assets
  
• Lead multi‑disciplinary projects from concept through to implementation
  
• Produce and review engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications
  
• Provide technical advice during manufacturing, installation, and commissioning
  
• Manage technical queries and ensure compliance with safety and design standards
  

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with an expectation of 3 days in the office/onsite.

• Proven knowledge of the design process and substantiation of systems/components
  
• Strong understanding of regulations and standards for mechanical handling equipment
  
• Proficiency in hand calculations and FEA
  
• Ability to interpret and produce engineering drawings
  
• Awareness of cranes, crane safety, and associated mechanical handling systems

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Prop (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
