We are looking for a skilled, resourceful, and collaborative Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Bedford, NH. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work closely with a team of engineers supporting gaseous energy projects. This is a fast-paced and dynamic position, with opportunities to be challenged, contribute to project outcomes, interact routinely with project Principals and clients, and grow professionally.

Essential Functions
  • Lead mechanical design and documentation of projects in the gaseous energy sector, focusing on natural gas, LNG, RNG, CNG, propane-air, hydrogen facilities, and metering/regulating stations.
  • Apply industry codes and standards (ASME B31.3/B31.8, BPVC Section VIII, NFPA 59A/59/58/54, 49 CFR 192/193).
  • Prepare process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Perform engineering analyses and equipment/component sizing, including line sizing, pipe stress, wall thickness, process equipment (heat exchangers, boilers, pumps) sizing, and valves/relief device sizing.
  • Develop technical deliverables including design drawings and specifications, reports, O&M manuals, and risk management documentation.
  • Conduct site visits to review existing facility infrastructure, support troubleshooting, and interface directly with clients to support technical discussions and design decisions.
  • Manage technical project execution, including staff coordination, budgets, schedules, interdisciplinary integration, and mentoring junior engineers to support their professional growth.
  • Support proposal development and cost estimation.

Competencies
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 6-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain within one year, required.
  • Extensive experience with natural gas, propane-air, and hydrogen systems, with strong knowledge of ASME, NFPA, and PHMSA codes, as well as process safety and risk management (PHAs, HAZIDs, HAZOPs).
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Client-service orientation with ability to anticipate needs and deliver exceptional results.
Physical Requirements
  • Requires sitting, walking and, at times, bending and prolonged standing.
  • Must be able to visit project sites and climb ladders and stairs as required.
  • The work requires both indoor and outdoor activity in temperatures ranging from moderate to extreme cold or hot and other weather conditions.
  • Must be able to wear and work in personal protective equipment as required.
  • Substantial repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers is required.
  • Close visual acuity is required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
