We have a phenomenal opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Test Equipment Design Engineer to play a leading role in the support of production activities with Production Design Support (PDS) at our site in Bolton.

You will act as an integral interface between our design teams and our manufacturing teams while working alongside other support engineers to provide knowledge and support.

The role offers the candidate a true engineering challenge in their core discipline(s), whilst providing scope for personal growth and development in other areas.

Working within Production Design Support (PDS) is a highly rewarding role as you not only see designs coming to life in the manufacturing environment but you can help to shape the design of the products and test equipment, delivering support to our customers.

Job Title : Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - PDS Test Equipment

Salary : Up to £50,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working : 4-5 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance : British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

What we're looking for from you: Ideally Degree/HND/HNC qualified plus significant experience in Mechanical Design and Development.
A strong understanding and use of GD&T would be advantageous.
The ability to lead mechanical design work packages and have experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team with the awareness and understanding of the challenges that this may bring.
Excellent verbal communication, negotiation and influencing skills with the capability to write clear and concise engineering documentation.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to influence and negotiate with partners across the business.
Experience of supplier engagement and development across internal and external multi-disciplinary teams.
The awareness and understanding of cultural differences with the ability to adapt accordingly.
A willing, helpful attitude, a calm professional manner, and the ability to assess and set priorities and deal with multiple issues on a regular basis.
Relevant 3D CAD/CAE experience (training on our preferred CAD tools will be given)
An understanding of manufacturing processes, design for EMC, connectors to BS & military specifications, tolerance studies environmental test, thermal management design, material selection would be advantageous.
Experience of the Engineering change management, configuration of parts and implementation of design changes.
Note : This role may require reasonable travel in the UK and could involve some travel in Europe.
