Job Description


Your Mission:


We are seeking an Experienced Mechanical Engineer to support the technical capabilities of one of our major client’s Design Authority (DA) near Glasgow.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Deliver technical excellence in specifying, producing, and assessing design packages for infrastructure.
  • Define reliability and operational constraints for infrastructure systems.
  • Assess work control procedures for infrastructure maintenance.
  • Evaluate infrastructure design, material state and ageing mechanisms to ensure continued safe operation of facilities.
  • Promote a robust safety and security culture in all work practices.
  • Act as an intelligent customer, ensuring safety‑related contracts meet all requirements.

Position Requirements:


Essential:



  • Minimum 5 years experience in the design assessment of mechanical plant and associated installations.
  • Experience producing robust technical justifications to authorise mechanical design modifications.
  • Ability to develop practical, creative and cost‑effective solutions for design changes/modifications to plant infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of British and international design standards.
  • Proven ability to make evidence‑based decisions using multiple data sources.
  • HAZID/HAZOP studies experience.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to effectively manage and prioritise workload.

Qualifications:


Key Requirements for the role:



  • HNC or equivalent qualifications in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Detailed knowledge of Design Intent for mechanical within nuclear or a similar high‑hazard industry.

Desirable:



  • Incorporated Engineer status or equivalent experience.
  • Degree or equivalent qualifications in a relevant engineering discipline.
