Job Description
We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our team in the clean water Division, based at Farmoor - Oxford - Water Treatment Works.
As a successful candidate you will use your mechanical and electrical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault‑diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment in a safe, efficient, timely and effective manner with minimum supervision. This role ensures that all of our sites remain operational for the benefit of our customers.
Responsibilities
- Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.
- Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults during incidents.
- Providing technical advice, referring to up‑to‑date technical knowledge, and supplying training or support for technical trainees when required.
- Working on a range of equipment: pumps, control gear, 3‑phase motors, starters, electronic controls (VSDs, automatic valves, penstocks), flow, level and pressure measurement, PLCs, variable speed drives, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
- Participating in a standby rota following relevant training.
Essential Criteria
- Electrical apprenticeship with significant experience in electrical systems, preferably in a multi‑skilled capacity.
- Mechanical qualification (NVQ2/3) is crucial; dual‑skilled status is expected or will be developed.
- Strong awareness of health and safety issues.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work in confined spaces after appropriate training.
- Valid driving licence; vehicle and tools are company provided.
- All PPE and tools are provided.

Working Pattern
Base Location: Farmoor - Oxford - OX2 9NS.
Working Pattern: 38 hours Monday‑Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm. Standby and overtime opportunities available.
